TABAK is a working model on expanded choreography initiated ca. 2020 through workshops and projects, and developed since 2021 as an on-going collective process of creation in contemporary dance by an ensemble based in Izola/Koper (Slovenia), integrated by Natalija Gajić, Nina Grmovšek Seljak, Anastasiya Pruyidze, Valentina Tomažinčič and Francisco Tomsich.
TABAK: The Square was our first public outcome. Its first presentation in Bologna on 9.4.2023 took the form of an open rehearsal of a 30-minute contemporary dance piece four four performers. It’s a work about friendship, communality and public space, divided in short sections. Those sections are choreographed through the selection, manipulation, repetition and re-combination of sets of movements and actions arising from the interstices and margins of the dance practices of the involved artists. Conversations, meetings and rehearsals are documented using video: this footage is the main source of images, ideas and sounds.
It is going on! We are preparing new presentations and materials!
Thanks to our Bologna friends and the attentive public who came to watch and comment, and dance at the party with @todosfrutados
TABAK: La Piazza was hosted by Arco Iris R and co-produced by the associations Ottovolante (Bologna) and Boja (Izola).
