Red Threads #Cirkulacija 2 is the third edition of the Red Threads project, developed since 2018 by Translación | Traslación, a platform for production, exhibition and research on performance art created by artists Tatiana Kocmur and Francisco Tomsich. Red Threads is a model of artistic research on performative art focused on the reception of performative artworks by the persons who were present in the place and time in which a particular work was made. For this edition of Red Threads, Translacija | Traslación will focus on histories of performance art and the performative at and around Circulacija 2, and their meaning in the historical context of the activities of that multidisciplinary association of artists. The red threads in question are exemplified by the quest for a possible (or imaginary) “first performance” at Cirkulacija 2 and how the group’s founders build stories about it, in dialogue with an artwork from Ksenija Čerče which documents a collective action carried by Cirkulacija 2 in Alkatraz gallery (Ljubljana) in 2010.
