Lee (2024)
160 x 160 cm, Private collection
From the Melusine’s Ruins series, developed from the Melusine’s Works series of site-specific installations on the public space.
This fragment was once part of Melusine’s Works (Lendava), produced in 2014 in Lendava, Slovenia, in the framework of the artists’ residency programme D’Clinic Studios. The ephemeral anarchitecture was installed on a square between the contrasting and history-telling premises of Lendava’s old sinagogue and the contemporary city cultural center.
The paintings displayed as decorated walls of that structure composed a frieze of history observers and witnesses, intermingled with local iconographies and significant 20th Century art stories. The visitors were invited to throw water onto the paintings to “unveil” elements covered by the fresco-like white evanescent layers.
Ten years later, and after a painstaking restoration process, Lee has found her place.
